The traditional St. Stephen’s Day fireworks were launched this Friday evening from ships on the Danube, two bridges – Chain Bridge (Lánchíd) and Liberty Bridge (Szabadság híd) - and from Gellért Hill to be watched by tens of thousands of people on either banks of the river.
Pyrotechnic devices were launched from six different venues. The spectacular show involving some 12,000 rockets, torpedoes and other devices began at 9 p.m. and lasted about 25 minutes in the Danube area of downtown Budapest.
