Switzerland will contribute 87.6 million Swiss francs to ten projects in Hungary across eight sectors, the presidential Sándor Palace said after a meeting between Hungarian President András Baka and Swiss counterpart Guy Parmelin at the UN General Assembly in New York City on Wednesday.
The Swiss-funded program will support initiatives in areas such as energy efficiency, vocational training and combating human trafficking, Sándor Palace added in a statement.
It noted that a defining moment in Hungarian-Swiss relations was the reception of some 14,000 Hungarians by Switzerland after the 1956 revolution.
András Baka and Guy Parmelin also commemorated the 80th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic relations between Hungary and the Swiss Confederation, the statement said.
The Hungarian president traveled to the United States on Tuesday for a working visit to address the UN General Assembly in New York City.
