The Fourth Wave of the Pandemic Hits Hungary Hard

8,394 new infections and 132 deaths have been found in Hungary in the past 24 hours, according to the government website koronavirus.gov.hu. The last time the number of deaths was this high was on May 4 this year.

The total number of deceased has risen to 31,751, while that of actively infected people to 83,818.

The number of new infections in the fourth wave exceeded 8,000 for the first time on Wednesday, the last time more new infections were recorded was in early April. The number of people hospitalised and on ventilators is similar to the figures recorded in early May this year.

4,990 patients with coronavirus are hospitalized, 488 of whom are on ventilators. Compared to the previous day, 160 more patients have been admitted to hospital and 25 more are on ventilators.

The total number of vaccinated persons is 5,986,727, of whom 5,764,573 have already received their second vaccination and 1,475,000 have already received their third vaccination. Yesterday, 44,000 people received their third vaccination, the highest daily total so far.
