Flower Carnival in Debrecen

Tens of thousands of people watched this year's Flower Carnival in Debrecen, eastern Hungary, on Saturday: thirteen colorful flower floats marched through the city, including 1,200 dancers and musicians from various art groups, creating a fantastic atmosphere.

The procession was opened by a floral composition representing the symbols of Hungarian statehood, the Holy Crown, the national flag and the scepter, followed by a flower float representing the twin city relations between Debrecen and Oradea.

Hungary will host the Theater Olympics next year, and the National Theater's flower float called "The whole world is a theater..." This was followed by flower floats from various organizations and companies.

Millions of live and dried flowers have been used to create the compositions, and the public had the opportunity to vote for the most beautiful, interesting and spectacular flower floats on the carnival website.

On Friday evening, the fourth edition of the Night Ride saw thousands of people riding bicycles decorated with flowers around Debrecen. The public spaces and tram stops were decorated with flowers, and the first international flower arranging cup was held.

Dancers and art groups from many countries, including Colombia, Peru, Germany, Belgium, Italy and Spain, have arrived to this year's Flower Carnival.
