US Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised the strong partnership between the United States and Hungary in a message marking Hungary's national holiday published on the State Department's website on Thursday.
The Secretary of State noted that August 20 was a reminder "of the historic ties between our peoples."
"The friendship between the United States and Hungary rests on the foundation of a mutual respect for sovereignty, proud heritage, and the hard-won liberties that define our two republics," he added.
"Today, the United States reaffirms its strong and forward-looking partnership with Hungary, one sustained by deep economic ties, shared security interests, and a commitment to the values that have long united the West," Marco Rubio wrote.
Messages of greetings were also sent from other countries on the occasion of Hungary's national holiday. One of the heads of state sending such a greeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, also invited Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar to the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.
