Hungarian reaction to Brexit vote outcome

The most important lesson to be learned from the referendum is that Brussels needs to listen to the voice of the people, Hungarian PM Viktor Orbán said Friday morning. Opposition parties warn that the Orbán government's anti-EU stance may lead the country out of the European Union.

Politics is the art of possibilities, which must be considered and weighed in good time, Orbán commented. "European leaders may not be eminently popular, but are nevertheless capable of reasoned thinking. Every political leader had carefully considered the options of staying or leaving."

He claimed that "among the debated issues, the subject of immigration was decisive. This has its own implications."

As the Hungarian bews agency MTI reported, several opposition parties called on the Hungarian government to respond to the outcome of the UK referendum on leaving the EU by withdrawing a referendum on the EU’s migrant quota scheme set for September.
