Hungary concerned about Gaza developments

The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs follows with great concern the situation in the Middle East, resulting in the Gaza Strip rocket attacks on Israel, which responded militarily to protect its population, the Ministry said in a statement.

The communiqué says the upsurge in violence has unfortunately required innocent civilian casualties on both sides. It is essential that the parties exercise restraint and cease the use of violence.

“We support all efforts to facilitate the cessation of fighting. The last few days once again highlighted the fact that the Israelis and the Palestinians should return as soon as possible to the negotiating table, because a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement in the Middle East can only be achieved through dialogue and the rejection of violence,” the statement by the Hungarian Foreign Ministry concludes.
