In October 2021, 8,289 children were born and 11,252 people died according to preliminary data published this Thursday by the Central Statistical Office.
Compared to October 2020, the number of live births was up by 3.1% and that of deaths decreased by 10%. 5,293 couples got married, which was 19% less than in the same month of the previous year.
In October 2021, the total of 8,289 children born were 3.1% or 248 more than in October 2020.
The same month, the 11,252 fatalities were 10% less or 1,252 fewer than in the same month of 2020. The start of the second wave of the coronavirus epidemic fell on October 2020, because of which the significant decrease was caused by the high base value. 6.5% or 688 more people died, however, compared to the corresponding period of 2019.
The number of deaths was lower, while that of births slightly higher than in the same month last year, as a result of which, the natural decrease lessened by 34% and was 2,963 as opposed to 4,463 in October 2020.
The number of marriages (5,293 couples) was 19% less or 1,237 fewer than in October 2020.
