Hungary’s Luca Ekler won the gold medal in the women’s long jump in the T38 category at the Tokyo Paralympics on Tuesday, beating her own world record twice, the Hungarian state news agency MTI reports.
A world and European champion, the Hungarian competitor started her second event in Tokyo after finishing fourth in the 100m flat this past Saturday.
In the first jump, she improved her own world record of 5.51 meters, jumping 5.60m to take a commanding lead. Her second attempt was invalid, and she improved on her record again in the third attempt with 5.63 meters, followed by two failed attempts and a half-executed jump of 4.00 meters.
Her confident success was not threatened by any of his opponents. The 22-year-old athlete won the fourth gold of the Hungarian delegation that has collected nine medals altogether so far.
