According to a survey by the Hungarian edition of Forbes magazine, three-time Olympic champion swimmer Katinka Hosszú, is still the most valuable Hungarian athlete for the sixth year in a row.
Another swimmer, world champion and world record holder Kristóf Milák is in the second place on the magazine's list, while the goalkeeper of the Hungarian national soccer team Péter Gulácsi and that of RB Leipzig, the bronze medalist in the German Bundesliga, is third.
The top 25 include six swimmers and five footballers. In addition to Hosszú, five other Olympic champions are on the list: the short track speed skater Liu brothers, sword fencer Áron Szilágyi, kayaker Danuta Kozák and water polo player Dénes Varga.
Regarding the methodology for compiling the list, the magazine noted that in addition to the athletes’ results, the ranking shows their ability to generate money, how well they build their brand, and how well they can take advantage of the business opportunities.
