Hungarians won five gold, seven silver and three bronze medals at the 36th European Aquatics Championships in Rome, Italy, finishing second on the medal table of pool swimming events behind the host country.
22-year-old Tokyo Olympic champion Kristóf Milák won the 100-meter and 200-meter individual butterfly events and was also member of the Hungarian team that won the 4×200-meter freestyle relay event. Milák also won two silver medals.
The other two Hungarian victories came in individual medley: Hubert Kós in the men's 200-meter and Viktória Mihályvári-Farkas in the women's 400-meter event.
The manager of the national team, Csaba Sós told the state news agency MTI that these achievements are the success of a new generation of Hungarian swimmers.
