The top Hungarian tennis player, Márton Fucsovics defeated No. 4 seed Daniil Medvedev of Russia in four sets (6:4, 7:6, 2:6, 6:1) in the first round of the men's competition of the 2020 French Open tennis tournament at the Roland Garros in Paris.

63rd in the ATP World rankings, the 28-year-old broke Medvedev's serve at 4-all in the first set and won his own to take the set. The second set was more balanced with the Hungarian winning it in the tie-break (7-6). However, the world No. 5 Russian, who was in the final of the US Open last year, improved his play in the third set, winning it 6-2.

In the fourth set, Fucsovics - who had lost all his three previous matches against Medvedev - began with an early break and continued with strong shots and great confidence to win the match and make it to the second round.

There, he faces Albert Ramos-Vinolas (44th in the world rankings) of Spain for a place in the last 32 of the tournament.
