Special Clothing Package for Hungarian Olympic Athletes

A package of clothing and accessories, 41 pieces altogether, have been handed over to the Hungarian competitors of the Beijing Winter Olympics by the Hungarian Olympic Committee (MOB).

It has been a tradition for several decades that the Hungarian Olympic Committee provides the members of the delegation traveling to the Games, especially the athletes, with a generous supply of clothing and accessories. This Wednesday, the Beijing Olympians received such a package, worth nearly HUF one million forints, which they will be able to keep after the Games.

As stated in the International Olympic Committee's statutes, the Olympic Charter, it is the responsibility and exclusive right of each national Olympic Committee to ensure the uniform appearance of the national teams participating in Olympic events.

As has been the practice to date, a comprehensive range of products adapted to the climate and weather conditions of the organizing country, covering general and leisure sportswear, but not sport-specific competition clothing, is available to meet all needs.

"It is important for the Hungarian Olympic team to be uniform in appearance, recognizable and identifiable in the international environment. This applies to the announcement of the results, ceremonies, travel and social events," MOB Secretary General Bálint Vékássy said. "That is why MOB provides athletes with the widest possible range of clothing, from travel bags to backpacks, from trainers, boots, socks and T-shirts to tracksuits, from underwear to various jackets," he added.
