For the first time, a Hungarian program has won the Global Sustainability Grand Prize at the Golden World Awards, becoming the best education campaign in the world in 2023 to support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Pressinform communications agency that launched the program told MTI in a statement.
They pointed out that the ‘Bee the solution!' initiative is Hungary's largest pollinator protection program. Its aim is to draw attention to the mass mortality of bees and other pollinators, to improve the situation of the beekeeping sector, which provides the livelihood of 20,000 Hungarian families, and to encourage the consumption of honey in Hungary.
The statement said the International Public Relations Association's professional jury awarded the Hungarian program the Global Sustainability Grand Prize out of hundreds of entries. This is one of the most prestigious professional awards for the program that best promotes the UN Sustainable Development Goals. According to the citation, ‘Bee the solution!' contributes to two global goals: ending hunger and protecting terrestrial ecosystems.
The ‘Bee the solution!' received an award at the IPRA 2021 regional Golden World Awards and was selected as one of the four best programs of the year in Eastern Europe. One of its components is the exhibition 'Buzzing in the Museum', which opened in 2022 at the Hungarian Museum of Natural History. The program is organized by Pressinform on behalf of the Pannon Depository, the National Hungarian Beekeeping Association and the Hungarian Natural History Museum.
