Schools and students can compete in the used mobile phone and battery collection competition between April 17 and May 19 as part of the Sustainability Week, the organizers told MTI.
As they write, the periodic selective waste collection contest will be announced again in the framework of the national Sustainability Week held between April 24 and 28, during which students can compete in two categories.
According to the information sheet, the aim of the competition is to raise children's awareness of the importance of selective waste collection and recycling. Students in the primary schools that collect the most mobile phones and those in the ten schools that collect the most used batteries will win a valuable voucher, and the school in each county that collects the most used items and the most used mobile phones will receive a HUF 30,000 grant.
“The PontVelem Program, which has been running for 12 years, has collected 753,000 kilograms of used batteries and 181,000 mobile phones so far. Last year, 165 schools joined the periodic collection," the statement said.
