Magyar Telekom, the market leader in mobile communications in Hungary, announced the start of big optical network investments in Győr (NW Hungary) on Friday.
According to the statement, Magyar Telekom intends to contribute to the country's digitization goals through its network developments, continuing the strategy it began in recent years. As part of this, the company is building a new optical network in Győr with almost 66,000 endpoints, as well as modernizing and expanding the capacity of its existing wired network to provide fast and reliable internet connectivity for the city's residents.
The modern wired network under construction will provide access to modern information and communication services, which can improve the quality of life of citizens, increase the competitiveness of businesses, and support the digitization and more efficient operation of public services.
Magyar Telekom noted that it had won HUF 1.6 billion in support in the framework of the Gigabit Hungary program for network upgrades in and around Győr.
