In July, Magyar Telekom will make available for the first time, with 15 base stations in six waterfront cities – Siófok, Tihany, Balatonalmádi, Fonyód, Balatonföldvár and Balatonszabadi-Sóstó – a 5G service, which enables even higher bandwidth and the simultaneous connection of many more devices.
According to the plans, the number of Telekom's stations providing 5G coverage around Lake Balaton will increase to a total of 40 by the end of the summer, the telecommunications company announced on Wednesday.
According to the announcement, the mobile service provider serves its customers in the Balaton area with approximately 150 base stations, of which 40 base stations have already been expanded, which significantly increases the capacity available in the area of the stations. Another 30 stations will be developed in the coming weeks and all the stations around Lake Balaton will be expanded.
Magyar Telekom's Deputy Chief Commercial Officer, Melinda Szabó said that they are working intensively to make their 5G service available in as many places as possible.
The 5G service will be provided by 16 Telekom base stations in the Lake Velence area, and every second tower will be expanded during the summer. Telekom is also developing one of its towers serving the Lake Tisza area in order to ensure greater capacity.
