Hungarian Mobile communication service operator Yettel's home TV service based on mobile technology has been launched after a successful open test period, Deputy Chief Commercial Officer Nemanja Zilovic announced at a press conference in Budapest.
He said that the launch of the current internet-based service was preceded by a 2.5-month test period. The service is available to the company's customers through a TV Box connected to their TV set, the Yettel TV app on mobile phones and tablets, and a web interface on PCs. Network developments are continuing, and downloadable apps for smart TVs will be available soon.
The transmission of specific channels on Yettel TV can be fast-forwarded and rewound, watched for seven days, or recorded and watched for up to 30 days, he said.
According to Olga Safonov, Director of Residential Commercial, more than 4.5 million playbacks have been launched and a total of 2.2 million hours of TV have been watched by Yettel TV users so far during the trial period, representing 5.9 million gigabytes of data traffic.
The operator says content consumption was dominated by linear TV viewing: 88% of users watched Yettel TV live during the test period, while 12% watched recorded content. The top list of most-watched channels is dominated by domestic commercial channels and cinema channels.
