A new study by tour operator Dertour show the cost of 3, 4 and 5-star hotels and vacation homes in 75 popular destinations, including a 2019 price comparison to illustrate how the COVID-19 pandemic may have impacted prices.
The 2020 Hotel Price Index reveals the current cost of a range of hotel and vacation homes in 75 popular destinations, including a 2019 price comparison looking at pre-COVID-19 accommodation prices. The travel agency has witnessed firsthand the implications of the pandemic on both the industry and travelers, and since restrictions have eased, have been working hard to offer their customers the most up-to-date information about the safe travel options available.
In doing so, Dertour noted a significant shift in accommodation pricing, and decided to undertake a study to see how these changes are reflected in the market overall. This dataset is designed not only to inform prospective travelers about the options available and the prices they should expect to find, but also to help raise awareness about the considerable drop in prices between 2020 and 2019, which is reflective of the current struggle facing the entire travel industry.
This dataset takes into account travel restrictions for German citizens from August 2020, so Dertour advises all prospective travelers to always check with the Auswärtiges Amt, or their relevant local health authority, before planning any journey.
