Boating on Lake Balaton: 175th Anniversary

This year marks the 175th anniversary of boating on Lake Balaton shipping and the Balaton Shipping Company (BAHART) celebrates it with a year-long series of events.

The series spans the whole year, with the slogan 'Tradition and Modernisation', expressing the commitment to preserving the values of the past and to achieving future goals.

From 1 April to 23 October 2021, an outdoor photo exhibition is held in three ports - Siófok, Balatonfüred and Badacsony - to showcase the main events of the past 175 years of boating on Lake Balaton, with a smaller version of the exhibition material displayed in the interiors of some passenger vessels and on passenger information screens.

The Helka and Kelén nostalgia ships are celebrating their 130th anniversary this year. In Siófok and Keszthely BAHART is preparing a birthday celebration with activities.

The company says it will involveits passengers in the festive activities in five frequented ports - Siófok, Balatonboglár, Badacsony, Balatonfüred and Keszthely - in the framework of a jubilee 'Road Show", linked to the periodic programs of the respective municipalities.
