From Saturday, April 1, the trains of the cogwheel railway (bearing the number 60) are running again between the terminals of Városmajor and the Children’s Railway station in Széchenyi Hill in the Buda Hills.
The railway line was closed for the winter in recent months. During this period, several hundred meters of track were replaced and new sidings were installed at Orgonás station. In recent months, urgent maintenance work has also been carried out, which is essential to ensure the safe operation of the cogwheel railway line.
Thanks to the work carried out, trains can now run more quietly than ever before. In recent years, the cogwheel railway line has undergone a number of long-term works which, in addition to preserving its condition, can improve passenger comfort and reduce noise pollution in the area.
This year, workers at the cogwheel railway are also preparing a surprise: in 2023, the open nostalgia train is expected to run several times on the only cogwheel railway line in the country.
