As a result of an investment of more than two billion forints, the Mátyás Király [‘King Matthias’] promenade in front of a line of hotels in Hajdúszoboszló, E Hungary, will be completely renewed, the town hall informed the state news agency MTI.
According to the press release, the municipality, the Hajdúszoboszló Tourism Nonprofit Ltd., the Hungarian Tourism Agency Zrt., the Visit Hungary National Tourism Organisation Nonprofit Zrt. and the Hungarian Tourism Association Foundation are implementing the tourism development from the more than HUF 2,077 million won in the Economic Development and Innovation Operational Program (GINOP) tender [of the European Union].
“The project will renew the King Matthias Promenade and part of Szent István Park. The aim is to reduce motor traffic on the promenade and at the same time create an attractive pedestrian street with ten experience points. The development of the Mátyás promenade and the area around the spa will further improve the quality of tourism in Hajdúszoboszló," the press release quotes Mayor Gyula Czeglédi as saying. The whole project will be completed by the end of September.
Among the further development plans, the mayor highlighted the construction of a conference center and the modernization of the spa.
Gyula Czeglédi also said that in the first six months of the year, the number of overnight stays reached 400,000, almost reaching the record set in 2019.
