The number of guest nights at commercial and private tourism accommodations in Hungary edged down 1.2% year-on-year to 3,806,000 in September, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Wednesday show.
The number of guest nights spent by domestic travelers dropped 2.4% to 1,652,000 and the number spent by foreign visitors inched down 0.3% to 2,154,000.
The number of guests at commercial and private tourism accommodations fell 3.3% to 1,599,000. The number of domestic guests slipped 2.3% to 768,000 and the number of foreign ones dropped 4.2% to 832,000.
Visitors from Germany accounted for the largest number of guest nights: 314,400. Visitors from the United Kingdom spent 140,200 guest nights and visitors from Poland 138,100. Guest nights spent by travelers from Asia increased 6.5% to 296,200.
Gross revenue of tourism accommodations rose 3.4% to HUF 107.5 billion. A total of 26,478 tourism accommodations hosted guests in September, including 23,744 private and other accommodations.
In January-September, the number of guest nights at tourism accommodations inched down 1.4% to 36,445,000. Guest numbers slipped 1.2% to 14,996,000.
