Guest Numbers, Nights Climb in Hungary in January

The number of guests at commercial and private tourism accommodations in Hungary rose 5.3% to 1,067,000 in January from the same month a year earlier, while the number of guest nights climbed 3.6% to 2,351,000, data released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) show.

The number of domestic guests rose 4.6% to 494,000 and the number of foreign visitors climbed 6.0% to 573,000.

The number of guest nights spent by domestic travellers increased 2.5% to 1,020,000, while guest nights spent by foreign visitors rose 4.4% to 1,331,000.

Visitors from Italy accounted for the largest number of guest nights: 132,900. Visitors from Romania spent 95,300 guest nights and visitors from the Germany 94,100. Guest nights spent by travellers from Asia edged down 0.8% to 182,400.

Gross revenue of tourism accommodations rose 8% to HUF 66.4 billion.

A total of 20,367 tourism accommodations hosted guests in January, including 18,279 private and other accommodations.
