The number of bookings has been increasing day by day since the restrictions were eased, according to László Lengid, Deputy CEO of the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ).
Typically, the vast majority of accommodations opened on Friday, with almost all catering establishments and spas already waiting for guests nationwide. The experience is favorable, both the guests and the service providers adhere to the regulations in a disciplined manner, he said in a television program.
Surveys show that Hungarians are increasingly planning their summer holidays within the country. Currently, their share among those planning a vacation is two-thirds.
The first big wave was on the Pentecost weekend. Figures at the National Tourist Data Information Center show that 2,000 to 2,500 new bookings arrive daily, mostly for July and August.
In addition to Lake Balaton, reservations are available for all living waters and tourist areas, as well as for the full range of accommodation.
