The Balaton Shipping Company (BAHART) is focusing on families and cyclists with its discounts and services in this year's 179th passenger shipping season, and also aims to match or even exceed last year's record traffic, the shipping company's CEO Gábor Veigl said at the company's season opening event on a catamaran sailing between Fonyód and Badacsony.
He recalled that last year, four new boats were put into service and they had a very good season. More than 2.3 million passengers were transported by the company's ships and ferries, 200,000 more than in the previous year, confirming the success of the improvements made so far.
"The increase in the number of cyclists is quite amazing," the CEO said. He explained that last year, cyclist-friendly routes and connections were defined, and this year, the fares for cyclists on both ferries and ferries have been reduced.
Gábor Veigl stressed that for the time being, there are regular services on the two main routes between Fonyód-Badacsony and Siófok-Tihany every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and from the spring break onwards, there will be services every day. On May 1, additional routes will be opened, with connections to the ports of Balatonföldvár, Balatonlelle, Balatonboglár, Balatongyörök, Balatonmáriafürdő, Révfülöp and Szigliget.
During the spring break, tickets can be purchased for cruises and after that, for individual program boats, while during the peak summer season, children's boats, children's concert series, sunset cruises, chill and party boats are also available, he added.
