A tourism and cultural visitor center showcasing the world heritage values of the Tokaj wine region has been built in Mád, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, with HUF 1.493 billion of EU funding, the Tokaj Wine Region Development Nonprofit Ltd. told MTI.
The center will be located in the former fire station building in the village of Mád and will serve as an exhibition space, an event and tasting room, a café and a bicycle rental service.
According to the Mád Visitor Center's website, the former fire station building will also offer visitors an insight into the secrets of wine-making.
Entering the building, the exhibition starts with the ten conditions for becoming a World Heritage Site, while on the ground floor, multifunctional rooms "tell" in a very special way what contributes to the character, aroma, smell and, of course, taste of fine Tokaj wines.
