In the midst of the current severe energy crisis, the member businesses of the Hungarian Trade Association (OKSZ) – distributors of all sectors, including food, drugstore, various industrial goods such as clothing, toys, furniture, technical and DIY – have been looking at how they can operate more cost-effectively than ever before, as the drastic increase in energy prices is expected to continue to rise in the future. The aim is also to keep the pace of price rises down by minimizing operating costs, which is key for customers," a statement by OKSZ is quoted by the financial news site portfolio.hu.
It is important to stress, however, that these energy-saving devices and methods do not affect the shopping experience, and shoppers can continue to browse and choose comfortably in shops and stores, the statement says. By summarizing and presenting the methods already used and planned by its members, the aim of OKSZ is to help other retailers and the various service providers operating in the retail sector. “Some of the suggestions are aimed at using existing equipment, such as lighting, more sparingly, while others require minor or major changes," the association says.
Although the financial means of retailers and service providers are limited, it is nevertheless worth considering energy-saving improvements, they add.
Although the coming months will bring further challenges for commercial and service businesses – for many, staying afloat is at stake – the use of energy-saving options can significantly ease their burden, even by implementing a solution. Businesses also have different energy saving capabilities, so solutions, improvements and investments may also vary.
