The Győr-Sopron-Ebenfurt railway company (GYSEV) is celebrating 150 years of its foundation this year, and to mark the occasion, the commemorative engine GYSEV150 has officially been inaugurated: the Siemens Taurus is covered with a sticker. The graphic features the number 150, the year 1872, the year of foundation, and the GYSEV150 logo, created by GYSEV for this year.
GYSEV is preparing for its one and a half century anniversary with a number of activities and attractions. The public will soon be able to discover the occasional postage stamp and the book on the history of GYSEV. At the request of the railway company, nine bakeries in the Western Transdanubian region have prepared a special GYSEV150 dessert, which can also be sampled with a unique and discounted cookie voucher.
In recent weeks, GYSEV150 stickers have been applied to passenger vehicles: motor trains and InterCity coaches, and the GYSEV150 commemorative locomotive has now been completed. On the sides of the vehicle, the steam locomotive wheels have been enlarged to a huge size to represent the past; the present and the future are represented by GYSEV's electric Taurus locomotive, currently capable of the highest speeds. The steamer's wheels are from a 520 locomotive, which is unique in that it was the most powerful steam-powered traction vehicle ever built in GYSEV's history.
