Hungarian-owned logistics firm Transit-Speed Ltd. invested EUR 10.7 million in Kisvárda, NE Hungary to set up new warehouses and beef up its wagon loading technology. Now that the developments are complete, 20 new jobs have been created. Over one third of the investment costs are covered by Hungarian taxpayers through a government decision.
Transit-Speed Kft. provides logistics services and serves its clients from three sites in Hungary. Headquarters are in Mándok that is used as a mainland freight hub as it has track gauges that comply with European as well as Ukrainian and Russian standards alike. This allows goods arriving from the former members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) to be loaded directly into normal wagons bound to Kisvárda. Following storage there, they can be then transported to the Csepel port where ship loading takes place.
The company decided to implement developments at its Kisvárda site to make its operation smoother. It has established two warehouse units of 3,780 sqm apiece, extended its railway slidings, and purchased wagon loading technology and related railway equipment.
Thanks to the development Transit-Speed could increase its capacity to handle and temporarily store goods. As a result, the Kisvárda site now has a railway network of 1.8 km and 12,000 sq meters of storage capacity where up to 35-40,000 tons of goods can be held. More importantly, this way it has become possible for the company to supply the entire European market.
