The Czech company Nymwag is building Europe's most modern rail vehicle manufacturing plant in Nagykanizsa, SW Hungary, providing jobs for nearly 1,500 people.
With an investment of nearly HUF 60 billion, the rail vehicle manufacturer is setting up the group's most modern factory and research and development base, where 1,800 freight wagons and 4,800 railway running gears will be produced annually.
The Managing Director of Nymwag Hungary Ltd., Robert Spisák, said that the investment in Nagykanizsa will also help the Hungarian economy to catch up in another industry. The wagon manufacturing and development base, which is being built on the approximately 36-hectare site of the recently closed down engineering company DKG, will be the second to third largest in Europe in terms of production capacity, and the first wagon is expected to roll off the assembly line within a year.
Building on Nagykanizsa's strong tradition of machine manufacturing, production will be complemented by the establishment of a research and development center and training will be provided at the Nagykanizsa Vocational Training Center.
Alexandra Brozová, another managing director of Nymwag Hungary Ltd., stressed that it has become clear in recent years that the economic success of a country depends largely on logistics, which is unthinkable without modern railways and modern wagons.
