A direct service by the Chinese logistics company Sinotrans between Shenzhen and Budapest, available from the end of March, offers a one-way capacity of more than 170 tons of air cargo per week, the site airportal.hu reports.

According to a statement from Shenzhen Airport, the first Sinotrans cargo flight took off from Shenzhen in Kuangtung Province in southern China to Budapest in the early hours of March 29, local time.

The flight will provide a fast and direct connection between the Kuangtung-Hong Kong-Macau region and the Central and Eastern European region, offering high quality service and expansion opportunities for South Chinese companies mainly engaged in cross-border trade of e-commerce shipments, electronic goods and semiconductors.

According to the announcement, the cargo flight will operate three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with a one-way capacity of more than 170 tons per week.

Budapest is the first new international cargo flight to be added to Shenzhen Airport's schedule this year, bringing the airport's total to more than 40 cargo flights per week to nine cities in seven European countries, including London, Paris, Madrid, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Cologne, Liege and Moscow, in addition to the Hungarian capital.

Budapest Airport has not yet announced the new route, but Chinese cargo flights are usually hectic in the initial period after opening, not operating at the announced frequency, with the schedule stabilizing only weeks or even months later.
