The December 24 heat record of the Hungarian capital was broken this Saturday: 13.1 degrees Celsius were recorded at the Lágymányos station in southern Budapest, the National Meteorological Service notified the public on one of its social media pages on Sunday.
The statement said this was several tenths of a degree Celsius higher than the previous record, set in 1958 in Istvánmező, in central-eastern Budapest. That record was 12.5 degrees.
According to the notification, an even warmer 13.3 degrees Celsius was recorded outside the administrative boundary of the capital at Budakeszi station on December 24.
