18.1 degrees Celcius was measured this Thursday in Letenye, a town on the Croatian border in southwestern Hungary - a new Hungarian record measured on February 4.
The National Meteorological Service said that this Thursday looked like a typical day in early February , but the temperatures were much more similar to the values recorded at the end of March, even at the national average the peaks were around 14 degrees (of course the stormy northwestern wind could significantly worsen the sensation of warmth).
The very mild, spring weather also set a new temperature record with 18.1 degrees Celcius mesured at Letenye. The previous February 4 record, 17.6 degrees, was measured in nearby Szentgotthárd, on the Austrian border, back in 2004.
The warmth record in Budapest was not broken but the 13.8 degrees equaled the record measured in 1967.
