Hungarian Wine Lists Recognized by Wine Spectator

Wine Spectator, one of the most influential wine magazines in the world, has recognized the wine lists of three restaurants in Budapest and one in Miskolc.

The Wine Spectator, one of the most influential wine magazines in the world, has recognized the wine lists of three restaurants in Budapest and one in Miskolc.

For decades, the American wine magazine has published its Restaurant Award list every year, which, like the Michelin stars, honors the world's exciting wine lists in three categories: with one (Award of Excellence), two (Best of Award of Excellence) and three (Grand Award) glass awards.

To qualify for the award, restaurants must meet a number of criteria, which Wine Spectator representatives personally verify during their visits.

The two-glass rating is awarded only to restaurants with a wine list characterized by a high level of professionalism, with at least 350 different items on offer, and a wide selection of wines from the best producers in the best regions, covering several vintages.

An important additional criterion is that these restaurants also provide training and education opportunities for their staff to help guests make informed wine choices, according to a statement sent to MTI on Monday by Avalon Ristorante in Miskolc.

More than 3,500 restaurants from more than 75 countries around the world are on Wine Spectator's list this year, including four in Hungary.

Avalon Ristorante received a two-glass rating, as did the Golden Caviar Restaurant and Félix Kitchen and Bar from the capital, while Kollázs Brasserie & Bar received a one-glass rating.

Avalon Ristorante has made the list for the second time this year, with a two-glass rating, as last year.

Félix Kitchen and Bar won the single-glass rating three years ago and retained it the following year, and in 2022, Wine Spectator awarded the restaurant, located next to the Várkert Bazaar, a two-glass rating on its wine list.

The Golden Caviar restaurant was awarded a single-glass last year and a double-glass this year, while Kollázs Brasserie & Bar was a newcomer to the list.
