The Photojournalist Section of the Association of Hungarian Journalists has announced the winners of the 38th Hungarian Press Photo Exhibition: András D. Hajdú and Bea Kovács, both of them freelancers.

The Grand Prize of the Association of Hungarian Journalists went to András D. Hajdú for his series portraying the life of a segregated gypsy community in Romania (see picture), while the winner of the André Kertész Grand Prize is Bea Kovács for her photo series ‘Awake coma’ about a Hungarian couple who have been taking care of their daughter who was 16 when she was hit by a car in 2016. She has been in awake coma ever since.

Originally, the prizes would have been announced and handed over at the opening ceremony of the 38th Hungarian Press Photo Exhibition in the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center in Budapest but due to the pandemic, the jury's decision was made public online.
