Hungarian police plan to buy sixty new medium-category cars and fifty motorcycles to escort diplomatic convoys during Hungary's EU presidency in the first half of 2011, national daily Népszabadság said on Tuesday.
Once the period of the EU Presidency is over, the new vehicles will be handed over to the police headquarters most in need.
Heads of government and state will be transported by luxury limousines and their entourages by microbuses provided by a sponsor for the period of presidency.
Nine hundred police school graduates will also be deployed in Budapest and central Pest county to help maintain law and order, and guarantee security during the presidency period.
