Hungarian soprano Erika Miklósa has been accepted for the New York City Marathon set for November 4. Running is not alien to her as she was first an athlete, a heptatlonist, before becoming a star on the different opera stages of the world.
Miklósa's application for the race was supported by the Metropolitan Opera, the International Fair Play Committee, and the Hungarian Olympic Committee. The well-known Hungarian soprano, holder of the prestigious Kossuth Prize, who switched over from sports to singing in 1987, will be the first person in New York City history who appeared in a leading role in the Metropolitan Opera and enters the city’s world famous running contest.
