Budapest International Circus Festival

Around a hundred artists from four continents will perform at the 14^th Budapest International Circus Festival between January 12 to 17 at the Budapest Capital Circus. The event starts with a conference this Tuesday.

Hungary will be the focus of the circus world for the next week, as Budapest hosts the most prestigious international circus festival of the year, Minister of State for Culture, Ministerial Commissioner for the Renewal of Circus Arts and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Budapest International Circus Festival, Péter Fekete said at the opening of the conference and exhibition ‘Circus Buildings in Europe’ in the Baroque Hall of the Museum of Fine Arts.

As the leading European center of circus art, Hungary is organizing the first ever scientific conference on circus buildings, and the festival will also include a conference on circus education, he added.

At Tuesday's conference, experts from France, the UK, Bulgaria, Monaco, Canada and Hungary review all the major circus buildings in Europe, whether still standing or demolished, the history of the Budapest Circus, the latest circus building trends and technologies, and a model of the National Circus Arts Center to be built in Budapest will be presented at an exhibition linked to the conference.
