The Hungarian currency dipped very low at times, but managed to recover somewhat against other currencies during the day.
The forint (HUF) weakened against the major currencies in the early hours of Tuesday on the interbank foreign exchange market, while the Swiss franc and the US dollar were at historic highs during the day, the state news agency MTI reports.
The euro strengthened from HUF 408.82 at 7 a.m. to HUF 412.54 by 6:30 p.m., and had been trading between HUF 408.23 and HUF 414.33 during the day.
On Tuesday, the Swiss franc rose from HUF 426.70 in the morning to HUF 429.23 by early evening. In the afternoon, it was at a record high of HUF 431.21.
The US dollar rose to HUF 413.60 from HUF 411.48, with Tuesday's new record at HUF 416.77. The euro strengthened from USD 0.9931 in the morning to USD 0.9973 later in the day.
