The National Center for Public Health (NNK) has confirmed two more cases of monkeypox in the 33rd week – from 15 to 21 August – bringing the total number of cases in Hungary to 64, the state news agency MTI reports.
The NNK said on Friday that the general condition of the 22 and 31-year-old men is good and neither requires hospital treatment; they are in isolation at home.
The regional epidemiological authority is conducting an epidemiological investigation of all patients, including contact tracing, they added.
The NNK had previously reported that the disease starts with general, non-specific symptoms of fever, chills, muscle aches, back pain, headache, fatigue, swelling of the lymph nodes and skin rashes 1-3 days after the initial symptoms. Rashes often occur first on the face, then on the palms and soles, but may also appear on the oral mucosa, genitalia and around the rectum.
