A community space has been created on the first floor of the Belvedere Palace in Szeged, SE Hungary, with support from the European Union, the Csongrád-Csanád County Municipality, has announced.

According to the press release, the investment will enable the municipality to provide the population of the county with a worthy and accessible space for events and community programs. This has not been possible since the relocation of the municipal office in 2015.

The cost of the multifunctional hall and the associated service facilities, which cost more than HUF 92 million, was covered by EU and Hungarian budget funds.

The community space was designed while preserving the original architectural and stylistic features of the building. The premises have new floor and wall coverings, suspended ceilings and new internal windows and doors. The room is equipped with a heat recovery ventilation system and a modern cooling system. The necessary infrastructure and IT equipment for sound, projection, audio and video recording for the venue have also been installed.

The Belvedere Palace in Szeged, on the banks of the Tisza, was built in 1882 for the Hungarian Royal Financial Directorate, based on plans by Viktor Bachó and József Heszlényi.
