Czech-owned online supermarket Kifli.hu has opened a EUR 15 million logistics base in Biatorbágy, on the outskirts of the Hungarian capital, Kifli.hu Shop Ltd. told MTI.
The base has a close to 5,000sqm automated warehouse and will allow Kifli.hu to offer a broader selection of products and faster delivery times to clients in Kifli.hu's delivery area that has a population of around 3 million people.
The smart warehouse has an automated system where the essence of the new system is that, in 80% of cases, it is not the workers who go to the products, but the products that come to them, which significantly speeds up order picking. Work processes can thus be up to three times faster, minimizing error rates and optimizing resource utilization. Artificial intelligence-based inventory management, as well as the cooling system, LED lighting, solar panels and thermal insulation also contribute to efficient and sustainable operation, they said.
Kifli.hu has been shipping orders from its warehouse on Jászberényi Road in Budapest, but it has reached its maximum capacity.
Kifli.hu Shop Ltd had net revenue of HUF 57 billion in its previous business year that ended in April 30.
