Industrial Output Up 1.3%, Automotive Down 1.4%

Output of Hungary's industrial sector rose 1.3% year-on-year in September, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) confirmed in a detailed reading of data on Thursday.

The detailed data show output of the automotive industry, Hungary's biggest manufacturing sector, edged down 1.4% year-on-year in September. The segment accounted for 25% of manufacturing output during the month.

Output of the computer, electronics and optical equipment segment, accounting for 14% of manufacturing, jumped 41% on higher computer and peripheral production.

Output of the electrical equipment segment, which made up 9% of manufacturing output, fell 14.2%.

Output of the food, drinks and tobacco segment, generating 14% of the sector's output, inched up 1.8%.

Headline output fell 1.5% when adjusted for the number of workdays.

In a month-on-month comparison, output rose a seasonally and workday-adjusted 1.3%.

For the period January-September, output dropped 3.4% year-on-year.

Export sales volume, which accounted for 64% of total sales, fell 2.3% and domestic sales declined 4.2%.

Order stock of manufacturing sector branches that KSH tracks was down 1.0% at the end of September from twelve months earlier. New order volume rose 2.5%, as new domestic orders increased 4.5% and new export orders climbed 2.3%.
