4iG Space and Defence Technologies has signed a memorandum of understanding with Lockheed Martin Global to explore and prepare potential defence cooperation, parent company 4iG said in an announcement on the website of the Budapest Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
"According to the MoU, the cooperation aims to assess the preparation for the integration of advanced long-range rocket artillery systems in Hungary, including the HIMARS, as well as to examine other opportunities for joint development, manufacturing and industrial cooperation," 4iG said.
"By the partnership with the world's largest defence contractor Lockheed Martin, we can lay the foundations for the development of domestic capabilities that is to strengthen Hungary’s position among NATO's most reliable and well-prepared partners," 4iG S+D CEO István Sárhegyi said in a press release.
"This partnership underscores our commitment to supporting European allies in bolstering their industrial capabilities, achieving strategic objectives and fulfilling NATO commitments," Lockheed Martin Tactical Missiles VP Paula Hartley stated.
