Supermarket chain Auchan plans to start opening smaller shops in Hungary from 2027 with the aim of tripling sales by 2032, Auchan Hungary said on Thursday.
Auchan Hungary will finance the new shops, with areas of between 70 and 150 square meters, with its own resources and in a franchise construction.
Auchan Hungary will also upgrade its existing hypermarkets.
There are 19 Auchan hypermarkets, two superstores and three supermarkets in Hungary. The retailer also runs an automated shop, dubbed Auchan GO, in a pilot project.
Auchan Hungary had turnover of HUF 542 billion in 2025, the company said, citing preliminary data.
French-owned Auchan Group is the majority owner of Auchan Hungary, but Hungarian property developer Indotek Group holds a minority stake with management rights.
