Budapest Airport, the operator of the Ferenc Liszt International Airport in the Hungarian capital, has been working for months with the authorities and relevant organizations to ensure the smooth handling of airport operations related to the UEFA Champions League final in Budapest; Terminal 1 will operate as a fully functional terminal during the event, and all organizations involved will be operating at full capacity with reinforced staff during the event period, Budapest Airport announced on Tuesday in response to an inquiry from MTI.
Over the three days, the additional traffic will consist of dedicated charter flights, small aircraft traffic, and extra flights added by airlines. Between May 29 and 31, the number of flights is expected to double compared to usual levels, particularly on Saturday and Sunday, when nearly 800 flights will operate daily. The largest increase in traffic is expected on the London and Paris routes.
It was announced that the airport has developed special air traffic and passenger handling procedures for this period and is also setting up temporary infrastructure. As part of this, Budapest Airport will open Terminal 1, which will operate as a full-service terminal during the event.
Budapest Airport asks all passengers to continuously monitor flight information systems and stay informed via the Budapest Airport website and airline channels. A dedicated information subpage will also be launched in connection with the event, alongside coordinated communication with UEFA and the airlines, Budapest Airport announced.
