Three-fourths of the shared services centers (SSCs) in Hungary plan to add more higher value-added activities, the head of the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), Bence Buday said at an industry conference on Wednesday.
Outlining the results of a recent survey at the HIPA Business Services Hungary 2026 conference, Bence Buday added that 42% of SSCs had scaled back their lower value-added activities.
He pointed out that Hungary had become a regional center for SSCs, with 259 businesses operating centers employing close to 120,000 people in cities across the country as well as in the capital.
He added that SSCs enjoyed the third-highest degree of support from HIPA after the automotive and electronics sectors.
Judit Zolnay, the state secretary for external economy, said Hungary's pool of talent was expanding as many people had decided to return home from abroad, seeing a future in the country. She added that SSCs, along with the life sciences and engineering sectors, were priority areas for FDI in Hungary.
