The ten millionth electric steering gear has rolled off the production line at Robert Bosch Automotive Steering Ltd. in Maklár, which employs 1,600 people, the company told MTI.
The company, which is twenty years old this year, has become a leading firm and one of the largest employers in the region, the statement said. The 70,000-square-meter Bosch plant in Maklár, NE Hungary, plays an important role not only in the production of new-generation electric steering gears, but also in the development of steering columns and shafts; around 6.5 million products and parts are manufactured annually, Bosch stated.
They stressed that the company's two sites in Maklár and nearby Eger produce steering systems for more than 50 vehicle manufacturers, including premium and electric car brands – passenger cars and trucks. Forty engineers work in collaboration with the world's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers.
Managing Director Michael Zink said in a statement that they manufacture steering gears, a key component of vehicles, in a state-of-the-art environment, in a digitalized, artificial intelligence-enabled environment. "Our aim is to lead the way in the application of future technologies in collaboration with our partners, so that our next generation products can be used to make driving more comfortable and safer," he pointed out.
At the end of 2022, the Bosch Group employed more than 18,300 people in Hungary, 1,300 more than a year earlier. Last year, the Bosch Group's annual sales in Hungary rose by 32% to HUF 2,255 billion, while its turnover in the Hungarian market – sales from outside the group – increased by 15% to HUF 314 billion. Last year, the company spent 55% more than in the previous year, HUF 155 billion on investment and HUF 112 billion on R&D in Hungary.
