Electrical engineering company ABB will invest HUF 5 billion to expand capacity at its base in Kecskemét (East Central Hungary), the company has announced.
As part of the development project in Kecskemét, new machines, injection molding equipment, robotic solutions, and additional production lines will be installed. The investment will enable increased production of several medium-voltage products – including 630-amp and 250-amp Elastimold solutions – which are used to connect cables to switchgear, transformers and other electrical equipment.
The development contributes to the more reliable operation of power distribution networks, supports the integration of renewable energy sources, and the modernization of energy networks, the company noted.
They added: the expansion of data centers, electrification, and the spread of smart grids worldwide are increasing energy demand, while across Europe there is a growing need for state-of-the-art underground cabling solutions.
The investment will add R+D and production capabilities for connector technologies used to upgrade power grids, the company said.
Close to 200 people work at the 12,500 sqm plant in Kecskemét, supplying products to utilities companies and renewables partners around the world.
